Brigitte's Goldendoodle Zia

★★★★★

The brush is excellent! I can tell that it's not hurting Zia, yet it's effective at combing through the curls while maintaining the wave. It's the best one we have by far.

— Brigitte, Goldendoodle Owner
Alicia's Lagotto

★★★★★

It nice and pretty gentle, enough give so it doesn't pull or get stuck. My lagotto is starting to enjoy a nice brushing in problem areas.

— Alicia, Lagotto Owner
Tracy L's Cockapoo Nellie

★★★★★

Nellie was happy for me to brush her, she didn't pull away! It has left her coat feeling super soft. One feature that I really thought was amazing was the flexibility of the strips of bristles. That allowed the bristles to move with the fur instead of pulling the fur from the dog.

— Tracy L, Cockapoo Owner
Jamie C's Bichon Poodle

★★★★★

Half the battle is won with screechie not afraid. Can remove knots so easily. I already order the shampoo, conditioner and curl cream to do wet brushing and will leave in the curl cream to see.

— Jamie C, Bichon Poodle Owner
Bernedoodle owner's dog

★★★★★

This stuff is incredible. Brushing was miserable for both of us, and groomers shaved him every time. Now his coat is soft again and it's so easy to get a comb through it

— Verified customer, Bernedoodle owner
Jess's Border Collie

★★★★★

Tiffany is absolutely amazing! I did a consult with Tiffany and she really helped me understand my dog's fur. I'm so excited to try the products.

— Jess, Border Collie Owner
Susan E's Mini-Doodle

★★★★★

Nice smell, works well. The Curl Magic Cream works really well; it smells pleasant and not overpowering, and our Mini-Doodle is looking very dapper.

— Susan E, Goldendoodle Owner
Dog owner showing detangling results

★★★★★

This spray is detangling magic! It helps detangle my dog's curly coat without needing a bath. His curls were maintained for a while before I needed to brush again.

— Anonymous, Dog Owner
JB dog groomer

★★★★★

The conditioner was lightweight, smooth, and supported the curl pattern really nicely. Overall, I thought this product worked extremely well.

— JB, Dog Groomer

If coat care has you at your wit's end, this is for you.

If your dog has been shaved at the groomer, if mats keep coming back, if brushing feels like a daily battle, or if you're carrying guilt about coat care, this is your reset.

  • Curly + wavy coats — poodles, doodles, Lagotto, fleece coats
  • Dogs who hate brushing — especially tails, legs, undercoat transitions
  • Busy pet parents who can't keep up with daily brushing

A calmer groom is possible.

Dr. Meyer Veterinarian, BVSc MSc
"Dry brushing damages the hair follicle through friction. To avoid this, always use a lubricant (e.g., oil or cream) when brushing the fur between baths"

The problem isn't your dog.

The bigger problem is that curls and waves are often treated like straight coats. Imagine having your curls yanked on every day. No wonder brushing gets stressful!

When you know better, you do better.

Curls have been misunderstood for a long time, across people and across pets. No judgment here! Every dog and every dog parent is different. But one thing tends to be true: when you stop forcing curls to behave like straight hair, life gets easier.

"Oh… so it's not just me."

"There's nothing my little nugget hates more than getting brushed, especially her tail."

"I used to feel embarrassed because I thought others would think I was a bad parent. Not anymore."

Happy goldendoodle with a well-maintained curly coat

The best results come from using it with a curl-supportive rhythm

Wash day

Brush with slip, then on a damp coat, apply curl cream generously, ensuring to get it at the roots

Around day 7

Use the spray for refresh sessions and gentle spot detangling

Around day 14

Time for your next wash day!

❗ No daily brushing. Daily dry brushing can disrupt curl families and lead to more tangling and mats.
"Grooming every 10 - 14 days is advised in the best interests of the dog's coat (avoid altering the profile of naturally occurring oils and waxes, etc.)" - Dr. Meyer, BVSc MSc

Built by cosmetic scientists, engineers, vets and curl experts who got tired of watching curly dogs suffer

Curlywags was built by a team of engineers who spent years studying curls and building a brush designed to support them.

"I was a type-A dog parent. We did daily brushing. We did the 'recommended practices.' The best result we got was a dog who acted cooperative… while her eyes filled with tears. And her coat still matted within 24 hours. That's when I asked: could there be a better way?"

FAQ 12 questions

What if my dog licks the curl cream? Can my dog eat it?

None of our products are made to be ingested. However, having a Labrador mix ourselves, we formulated our leave-in products with ingredients that wouldn't be harmful if a dog licks a small amount. That said, we still advise that your dog does not eat it.

Is it puppy safe?

For most puppies, yes. The shampoo and conditioner can be used on puppies over 6 weeks old, and the curl cream and curl spray can be used on dogs over 3 months old.

Is it dog safe?

Yes. Our products use vet-approved ingredients. We always recommend patch testing first, as every dog is unique.

Is this vet approved?

We developed our approach and products alongside a veterinarian.

Does it leave a greasy or sticky residue?

Once dry, it should not leave a greasy or sticky residue.

Will my dog look more fluffy?

Around 2–3 days after wash day, your dog's curls should look fluffy and defined.

"I thought I was supposed to brush every day." Why not brush daily with this method?

Daily dry brushing can pull curl groups apart and make tangles come back faster, creating a cycle. Most matting starts at the root, which often leads to shave-downs. When curls are defined from the root, strands stay within their curl groups instead of tangling. Daily brushing can disrupt this and cause more tangles.

Can I modify the method?

The best coat care is what works for you and your dog. We recommend starting with our method, but if you find a routine that works better, that's completely fine. Consistency matters most—keeping curls defined from the root is the key.

What if I don't like using a blow dryer?

You don't have to fully blow dry the entire coat. Many dog parents do 5–10 minutes just to help dry to the skin. We recommend drying the skin, but if your dog can air dry without issues, do what works best for them.

Do I need to brush with conditioner in?

We recommend brushing with conditioner during wash day because it reduces pulling and makes detangling easier. If your dog prefers a different order, that's okay—as long as curls are defined from the root. Avoid brushing completely dry, as it can pull curls apart.

How often is wash day?

About every 2 weeks is a common rhythm. In between, you can do a curl refresh session using the spray and brush.

My dog gets wet and muddy often—what should I do?

If water washes the product out, reapply it to the areas that got wet, focusing on the roots. If the coat is matted or tangled, brush it out before the spray or cream dries.
