Thank You for Your Purchase!
Thank you for choosing CurlyWags. We created this brand because the current products and grooming methods just weren’t working for Dora, our curly-coated dog. Maybe you know the struggle - constant matting, painful brushing battles, getting shaved at the groomer.
In addition to our line of hydrating, mat-preventing products, we have also developed a revolutionary patent-pending method, for taking care of your dog’s curly coat, based on the principles of natural hair care.
Whether you’re just looking for a better product to help with your current routine, or looking to completely reinvent how you take care of your dog’s coat, we have something for you!
Welcome to your curly coat journey! If you have any questions or run into any issues, we're always happy to help.
✨ What to Expect in the First 7 Days
Most curly-coated dogs show improvements quickly:
- Softer, more defined curls
- Less matting between washes
- Easier brushing sessions
Don't worry if curls don't look fluffy on Day 1. Definition improves as moisture increases. Consistency really pays off. Your dog's coat will feel easier and easier to manage.
🎥 Start Here: The CurlyWags Method
Your dog's curls look their best when product, moisture, and brushing work together. Watch this quick video to see the full routine in action.
Most dog parents see smoother, softer curls right after following this routine just once.
🧴 How to Use Your CurlyWags Products
Curl Magic Cream
- Start with clean, damp fur.
- Apply a small amount and spread evenly with your fingers, ensuring to get it at the roots. This helps to prevent matting at the roots.
- Gently blow-dry.
Curl Refresh Spray
- Lightly mist onto dry curls, ensuring to get it at the roots. This helps to prevent matting at the roots.
- Scrunch or finger-comb to revive curl texture and extend time between bath days and grooming.
- Gently blow-dry or air dry.
Quick tip: Perfect for quick brushing and extending time between brushing when you have a busy schedule. If the coat feels tangled, spray first, then gently detangle.
🔍 Common Mistakes to Avoid
These small shifts make the biggest difference:
❌ Brushing a dry coat
→ Always add moisture first with the Curl Magic Cream (after a bath) or the Curl Refresh Spray (between baths).
❌ Brushing out the curls every day
→ Contrary to popular belief, a well-moisturized, detangled coat with the right products in it doesn't need to be brushed every day. Brushing every day actually pulls out the curl patterns and creates MORE tangles and mats! Bathe & detangle every 2 weeks and use the Curl Refresh Spray between baths as needed - for example, during the "off" week between baths.
❌ Not applying products to roots
→ The worst matting occurs at the roots
❌ Aggressive Drying
→ Blow drying on too high of a speed and going back and forth with the dryer, instead of in the direction of the hair growth, can blow the curls out of definition. This can lead to more tangles further down the line.
If brushing feels hard, stop, add moisture, then start again. Your dog will learn to tolerate brushing when it feels gentle and easy.
❤️ A Note From Our Founder
Hi, I'm Tiffany. CurlyWags was inspired by my own curly-coated dog, Dora, who struggled with brushing and matting until we discovered a gentler, curl-friendly approach. The methods currently recommended for curly-coated dogs, especially Doodles, just didn’t feel right to me. And they didn’t work - Dora got matted and shaved at the groomer constantly, despite using leading “de-matting” products and spending at least 30 minutes every day brushing.
Dry brushing your dog every day?! As a woman with natural curly hair, I know that this hasn’t been considered a good practice for textured human hair for decades. So why should we put our dogs through it? This is why I invented the patent-pending CurlyWags method, which applies principles of modern natural hair care to dogs, focusing on maintaining moisture and curl patterns, and disrupting the status quo of daily dry brushing - which, let’s face it, hurts our dogs and doesn’t really work.
Since starting to use the CurlyWags method, Dora has long, beautiful curls that are easy to maintain and hasn’t been shaved at the groomer once. I want to share these results with you. We humans have come a long way in caring for our curly hair, and now it’s time for our dogs to finally enjoy the same benefits.
General Grooming Tips for Curly-Coated Dogs
Dog curls have a lot in common with human curls. Moisture is everything. A well-moisturized coat mats far less.
